How to Entertain Children in a Hot Tub

Frequently going for a family soak in the hot tub is a great way to spend quality time together! Everyone puts down their devices and the conversation flows. We doubt it’ll take much arm-twisting to convince your children to hang out in the hot tub no matter how you pass the time, but if you incorporate games and activities, family spa night will be their favorite day of the week! Get your whole family in the hot tub and try out one of these activities.

Card Games

There are countless options for games when you buy a waterproof deck of cards. You can often find waterproof games like “Old Maid” and “Uno”, or go for a generic deck and teach your kids classic card games like Concentration, Snap, or Authors. Want to skip purchasing a floating pool table? An upside down frisbee or the cover of a plastic storage bin makes a great substitute!

Waterproof board games

If board games are more your style, you can find some of your family’s favorites in a waterproof version. Checkers is always a popular choice. Besides waterproof games specifically for use in the water, you might already own games that you can play in the hot tub. Dominoes, Bananagrams, or any type of dice game are perfect.

Duck Races

Rubber duckies, bath toys, boats, and anything else that floats can be used for racing. Blow air or make waves to send the ducks racing to the other size. First one there (or last one still floating upright) wins!

Ping Pong Panic

The goal of the game is to not get hit by a floating ping pong ball. Start by placing a few ping pong balls in the middle of the hot tub and then everyone moves out of the way or makes waves to keep the balls away. Every 15-30 seconds, add a few more ping pong balls to the center of the hot tub. If a ball touches you, you have to sit outside the hot tub until the game is over. The last one still in the tub wins!

Guessing Games

Guessing games are fun (and free!) activities to play with the whole family. What kid doesn’t love Twenty Questions, I Spy, or Who Am I?

Besides playing games, your whole family will love just spending time together in the hot tub. Free from other distractions, you can reconnect, and you may find some of your closest conversations and bonding happens while you’re soaking in the water together. For quality time in the spa, there’s only one requirement: a hot tub of your own! If you don’t own one yet, now may be the perfect time to bring home one of our Master Spa® models and start reaping the benefits of hot tub ownership, which includes quality family time.
